Former coach explains Duro's strengths
David Cubillo, who worked with Hugo Duro during his time in the youth ranks at Getafe CF, spoke to VCF Media this week to talk about the new loan signing for Valencia CF, explaining the characteristics he believes will make the striker a success.
"Hugo is quite a complete striker. First of all, it is a success for Valencia CF to have signed him," he said.
"He is a forward with a lot of mobility, who scores a lot of goals, and you could already see that from him at youth level for Getafe, where he didn't need five or six chances to score. Above all, one of his main characteristics is his hard work, and today having a forward like that is very important."

"José Bordalás likes those types of strikers, and Hugo fits his profile. He combines hard work and effort with technical quality."
Cubillo also believes that adapting to a new club will prove to be no problem for Duro.
"He has people around him who really take care of him. Hugo is a very normal person with a lovely family and agents who take great care of him. I think he will have no problem adapting. He has always shown a maturity far beyond his age."

He was a regular in our training sessions for the second team at Getafe, because we needed players when ours were called up for the first team. He also trained with the first team and we soon began to see his effectiveness in front of goal. Little by little he gained minutes until he was a starter in the final part of the season when we played the playoffs. He made a place for himself and he has earned it all.
